Demand for smart building software sees intelligent building platform IBOS signed up across 1m sq. ft of assets nationwide.

Challenging sustainability targets and rising energy costs have focused landlords’ attention on operational efficiencies, leading to increased demand for smart building software.

This increasingly sharp focus on energy efficiency and environmental performance in property management has seen Workman’s IBOS (Intelligent Building Operating System) platform rolled out across 1m sq. ft of commercial real estate UK-wide.

Having launched in May 2021, clients including Columbia Threadneedle, Blackrock and Federated Hermes have signed up to install the platform.

The pace of uptake indicates growing demand for technological solutions

  • to improve operational efficiency to mitigate against growing energy costs,
  • to enable ESG targets to be met,
  • and to facilitate a collaborative approach between landlords and occupiers in managing workplaces.

The system is progressing with a pipeline of install instructions. It aimed to be in place at over 30 premises by the end of 2022.

Developed with technology partner Bubll Automation, IBOS employs cutting-edge IoT technology. It aims to automate and optimise a building’s systems for enhanced ESG performance.

Workman expands its Building Technology team to support continued growth of IBOS platform

Acknowledging present and anticipated demand, Workman has strategically expanded its Building Technology team. Ross Ackland has assumed the role of Associate, collaborating with James Hallworth. H was elevated to Partner and Head of Building Technology in May 2022.

Ross re-joins the firm, having previously been part of Workman’s Facilities Management team for three years. Bringing nearly 10 years of facilities management expertise, Ross will play a vital role in swiftly implementing IBOS. He will collaborate with onsite and management teams to seamlessly integrate it with existing building systems.
