The car park at Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham won ‘Refurbishment of the Year’ at the British Car Park Awards held on 8th March 2019 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

The car park, originally constructed in 2003, was the first car park to receive the new premium standard finish.

The roles Workman played for Bullring shopping centre car park

Workman fulfilled Contract Administration, Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Principle Designer roles for the client. The project was managed from Workman’s Birmingham office and overseen by James Hands.

The project was instructed late in the financial year and resulted in the team having to recommend the project being let in separate packages, which served to ensure all works were completed in budget.

The deck coating needed to be undertaken in phases and in the quickest period of time to mitigate revenue lost whilst parking was out of action. This resulted in the variable message signing and decorations having to be undertaken out of hours, after the handover of the deck coated areas.
