Surveyors on the slopes

January 2019 in Blog

PropSki is officially the largest property ski trip with over 275 property professionals attending.

I have a passion for skiing and I love being in the mountains so I jumped at the chance to be the first representative from Workman to attend.

The venue this year was Chamonix and the world of property descended on to the slopes for a week of snow sports and property chat from 12 – 19 January.

It was brilliant. It was exhausting – and we had the best conditions I've seen in a while.

It is an action packed week, combining great skiing and opportunities to network with other industry professionals.

As a Management Surveyor who joined Workman in 2018 this was a great opportunity to develop my networking and business development skills at such an early stage of my career, whilst representing the firm at the property industry’s most well-known winter event.

As well as great skiing, the trip included a series of events – beginning with the EG Welcome drinks and followed by numerous sponsored events throughout the week. The Aston Rose Ski Tour was a particular highlight.

The trip provided me with the opportunity to meet like-minded property professionals from different sectors, which is invaluable at such an early stage of my career. The contacts I made on the trip ranged from senior personnel to graduate level, which is not something you typically get at most other events.

It was interesting see how, while we all have the profession in common, it was our passion for winter sports which brought us together, creating a different platform for networking and learning.

With so many organised events and skiing everyday – not to mention the obligatory après - it is difficult to say what the highlights of the trip were for me. But the après at ‘Chambre Neuf’ was certainly memorable… feel free to ask me for details!
