Workman actively encourage sustainable working practices to minimise environmental impacts both in respect of our own business activities and when managing clients’ properties.

We are committed to operating to an Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System that satisfies the requirements of our BS EN ISO 14001: 2004 accreditation and as part of which we measure and set targets for improvement.

We have a dedicated Environmental and Sustainability team who’s role it is to ensure that all instructions, both property management and building consultancy have regard to environmental best practice, current legislative requirements and clients’ own environmental management systems and procedures.

We work with a number of specialist consultants and with clients’ own environmental advisors in order to ensure that they have a tailored service depending on their specific requirements.

Technical support is provided by the Environmental team, which includes advice on supplier/ consultant selection, interpretation of legislation and pooling of ideas and latest information.

Specific aspects of the firm’s approach to environmental management include:

  • Data Management – to help clients’ meet their statutory obligations and their own targets and benchmarks
  • Asset-specific audits – working with specialist consultants to create a framework for property management and on-site teams for the reduction in consumption of energy and water
  • Procurement – to ensure contractor engagement with client targets, for example through ‘green’ fit-out and refurbishment guides
  • Energy Procurement – using a range of approved consultants to ensure transparency and best value in this increasingly difficult market
  • Staff Training and Liaison – to ensure the pooling of ideas and sharing of best practice across the firm
  • Service Development – to meet the requirements of legislative changes and clients’ needs in this fast-developing area.
