The multi-award-winning Birmingham Business Park is set within 148 acres of mature parkland and boasts 300 buildings. Servicing over 140 thriving businesses and 8,000 occupiers. The jewel in our crown was achieving a Gold Green Apple Award for our Community Cycling Club, awarded in November 2018.
Taking pride in our social events
We pride ourselves on a vibrant social events calendar from Monday to Friday and the following is a summary of what we were proud to deliver during the course of 2018. With events and activities such as yoga, pilates, mindfulness, ‘Foodie Fridays’, ‘meat-free Mondays’, mini massages, beauty therapy, art workshops, pond dipping, community cycling club and even road cycling races there is something for everyone.
Our occupiers have the ability to cherry-pick their favourite activity to suit them and their own time constraints over a lunchtime, pre-work or post-work – it’s up to them to make their time work for them.
Our strapline ‘Invested in You’ is at the core of our offer. 2018 delivered our very own Gold Green Apple Award for our community cycling club, a group of individuals passionate about cycling, wellbeing and sustainability.
We host two bike rides a week during Spring and Summer for all levels of cyclists. We even host a free bike maintenance service twice a year for all our occupiers. Our pool bikes are well used by our occupiers from dropping off their dry cleaning to grabbing a few coffees for their colleagues using their own BBP-branded reusable cups.
As Spring arrived last year, the Park came to life and we rolled out the deckchairs, installed permanent outdoor table tennis facilities, and brought out the giant Jenga and Connect Four games. Plenty of inter-company tournaments with great prizes, all located by the stunning lakes and abundance of wildlife (including our very own beehives). This provides the perfect antidote to a busy working day for our occupiers to take time out to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
A sizzling Summer played host to live Wimbledon tennis on a giant screen and free caricatures. Great for team building and getting to know your colleagues, free food was on offer from a variety of food trucks and ice cream suppliers. During August we gave away free ice creams and lollies as we all enjoyed the great weather. Occupiers tweeted their photos and won great prizes!
Twice a year we focus a whole week to our sustainability practices. Our occupiers can join in with the free activities, from pond dipping to bio-diversity walks, Easter basket making, pumpkin carving, meet the beekeeper, woodland walks, pop-up organic food events and much more.
We also include focused wellbeing weeks and offer a host of free activities for our occupiers to try out via complimentary vouchers. This is a fantastic introduction for our occupiers to trial and tests the activities before they sign up.
We are committed to supporting local charities and over the last three years have raised over £3,000, donated over 120 Easter Eggs, plus festive boxes and selection boxes. All proceeds from the sale of our honey (cultivated from our on-site beehives) are donated to our selected charity of the year. We give our charity of the year a voice and profile and many occupiers now support the charity independently.
Our Community seminars
We host twice yearly “Our Community” seminars, an opportunity for our occupiers to showcase their thriving businesses and listen to keynote speeches from local stakeholders such as Birmingham Airport, Solihull College, and the Chamber of Commerce. This supports the growth of their businesses and assists with apprenticeships, internships and resourcing signposting.
Ending the year on a finale is our ever-popular festive wreath-making, a wonderful event for over 150 occupiers, with free festive food and carol singing, this event is always fully booked.
