Workman’s Building Consultancy team was tasked by Hermes to create state-of-the-art energy efficient workspace on Glasgow’s well-known St Vincent Street in the heart of the financial district, required to meet the client’s exacting environmental standards within their RPI strategy, while preserving the existing facade.
The contract was valued at just over £7 million and to minimise client risk this was negotiated on a fixed sum Design & Build basis.
With its double height entrances and chic modern reception, the 73,610 sq.ft of office space has been completely remodelled in keeping with the gravitas of the area.
Accommodation was fitted with Grade A facilities throughout, to meet the requirements of both client and tenants.
The team completed this challenge within 12 months, on time and on budget. The scheme went on to be awarded a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and the EPC rating was improved from F+ to C, through various improvements in efficiency including covered lighting, energy and water metering, a green roof as well as improvements to heating and ventilation.
